I will start of by saying that Erin just knows how to let you get lost in a haunting fairytale where the only escape is to finish the book, to know what happens to our characters. . This book in my mind's eye plays off in the 19th Century and when I read about the pass that will close for winter with the snow I got this Seven brides for seven brothers feel. With the elders of the town and the strange legends, I got The Villiage feel of the book. . Ellerie Downing is our main character with starting of with wanting more responsibility and ending up with the too much for such a young lady to handle, yet she pulls her off. Showing us that even when we feel we can't do anything, nothing is possible, we will dig deep to save our family and the ones we love. . The romance and the hints of it between Ellerie and Whitaker are just enough to keep me gripped and wanting more. . It is truly difficult to give a full review without giving away plot twists. The Gilded Ones is told out of the POV of Deka, who has cursed blood. Now the storie goes like this. When a girl turns 16 there is this ceremony where they will cut the girls in the temple. If you bleed read, you are a young lady then, you get to wear a mask, and is free to get married. But, if you bleed gold well you have demon blood in you and then you will be killed. Now for Deka she bleeds gold, her dad and friends disown her. Then a layd with the name white hands shows up and make her an offer she can not refuse. Deka is of to become part of a group of girls that will serve the emperor as his warriors for 20 years. . . Now during the book you learn more about why these group of girls bleed gold. The significae they have and why they are actually the perfect warrior. . . Now Deka, she is not like the others. She is different. We follow Deka on her journey where she learns how to control her new power. . . The book has a major plot twist about 85 % in. . I give this book ★★★★★ out of 5 Stars . I you loved Mulan and Black Panther and you are girl power all the way, then this book is a must. . .
